Buenos Aires Travel Guide

Buenos Aires is a city shaped by rhythm, expression, and everyday rituals. Grand boulevards, historic cafés, and elegant architecture reflect its European influence, while tango, football, and long dinners anchor daily life in unmistakably Argentine ways.

The city feels personal rather than performative. Neighborhoods like Palermo, Recoleta, and San Telmo each move at their own pace, inviting travelers to linger, observe, and settle into local routines instead of rushing between landmarks.

Flights

Most international travelers arrive via Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), located about 45–60 minutes from the city center. The airport is well connected to Europe, North America, and other South American hubs.

Domestic flights operate from both EZE and Aeroparque Airport, making it easy to connect to other regions of Argentina.

Transportation

Buenos Aires has an extensive public transport network, including buses and a subway system that connects most central neighborhoods. Taxis and ride services are widely used and affordable for short distances.

For airport transfers or late-night travel, pre-arranged transport offers added comfort and ease, especially for first-time visitors. Many neighborhoods are walkable, making exploring on foot part of the experience.

Safety

Buenos Aires is generally safe for travelers, particularly in central and well-populated areas. Petty theft such as pickpocketing can occur, especially on public transport and in busy tourist zones.

Staying alert, avoiding flashing valuables, and using licensed taxis or trusted transport services helps ensure a smooth stay. The city’s lively street culture adds to its welcoming feel.

Climate

Buenos Aires has a temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Spring (September–November) and fall (March–May) are the most comfortable times to visit, offering pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds.

Summers can be hot and humid, while winters are cooler but still suitable for sightseeing and café culture.

Budget

Buenos Aires can be very affordable depending on exchange rates and spending habits. Dining out, cafés, and public transport are generally budget-friendly, while accommodation ranges from affordable boutique stays to luxury hotels.

Cultural experiences such as museums, live music, and tango shows offer strong value, making the city accessible for a wide range of travelers.
